Giorgio è un designer come me, si è iscritto all’università quando io avevo già fatto il primo anno… e nonostante a 26 anni avesse un lavoro a tempo pieno e avesse chiuso i libri già da un bel po’, si è rimboccato le maniche ed è tornato sui banchi lavorando di giorno e studiando progetti e facendo modellini di notte. Lo ammiro moltissimo per questo, per la sua tenacia e il coraggio di mettersi in discussione.
Lo ammiro un po’ meno quando non comprende il mio disordine ordinato, ma questa è un’altra storia…
Comunque, ha voluto anche lui cimentarsi con il craft, ed ha elaborato questo orologio da parete.
La particolarità è che può essere appeso sia dalla parte con il quadrante dell’orologio, sia da quella più sottile, perchè il disegno delle ore è simmetrico; il foro che rimane libero può essere usato per appendere calendari, bigliettini, chiavi…
E’ tutto in feltro, un materiale che lo ha sempre affascinato, e che ora preleva a piene mani dalla mia scorta…
Per tagliare i cerchi ha usato una specie di compasso-taglierino che ho comprato apposta per lui all’ultima fiera della creatività che ho visitato.
E l’impuntura decorativa… l’ha fatta lui, ha voluto imparare ad usare la macchina da cucire!
Ieri sera abbiamo inserito l’orologio nel mio shop online, e questa mattina era già venduto… quindi prevedo un bel weekend di craft di coppia! (sempre che non ci litighiamo la macchina da cucire…)

Crafting is contagious, you know… but when those being infected are husbands… it’s even better!
Giorgio is a designer like me, he entered the university when I had already done the first year ... and despite the age of 26 and a full time job, he rolled up his sleeves is and went back on the benches, working by day and studying projects and making models in the night. I greatly admire him for this, for his tenacity and courage to question himself.
I admire him a little less when he doesn’t understand my tidy mess, but that's another story...
However, he also wanted to experiment in crafting, and has developed this wall clock.
The peculiarity is that it can be hung either by the clock face side, and by the thin part, because the pattern of hours is symmetrical; the hole that remains free can be used for hanging calendars, cards, keys ...
It 's all in felt, a material that has always fascinated Giorgio.
To cut the circles he used a kind of compass-cutter that I bought for him at the last exhibition of creativity I visited.
And the decorative stitching... he made it, he wanted to learn how to use the sewing machine!
Last night we put the clock in my online shop, and this morning it was already sold ... so I expect a nice craft weekend for two! (unless we argue the sewing machine...)
